Gothenburg Botanical Garden welcomes the community to the 2019 User Conference.

Gothenburg Botanical Garden will be hosting the 4th User Conference on April 29 and 30, 2019. The garden comprises a total area of 175 hectares (ca. 430 acres), most of which is a nature reserve. The garden proper is about 40 hectares with roughly 16,000 different species. To celebrate the arrival of spring, the park will host a Japanese-style hanami (flower viewing) picnic during the weekend preceding the 4th User Conference.

Community driven problem solving

Following the success of the past conferences, we will concentrate on community driven problem solving. Contributors are encouraged to discuss the challenges they face in daily record keeping and to invite the other users to share their ideas. Presentations and workshops can focus specifically on software use or may even relate to record keeping in general. The results of these sessions will help us improve the software and allow the community to share ideas regarding record keeping practices.

We believe in inclusive collection management and our ambition is to make this conference a platform for everyone involved in record keeping. We are very pleased to see that this year we will welcome more horticulturalists than in the past, which will broaden the scope of the conference.

Pre-conference suggestion for Sunday, April 28th 2019

11:00 – ±15:00 Hanami- Cherry blossom festival

Gothenburg Botanical Garden cordially invites you to visit its annual Hanami – Cherry blossom festival. Starting at 11:00 (until ±15h), please bring your own picnic or visit one of the food trucks and enjoy the programme which includes releasing koi fish, guided tours of the Japanese Glade, martial arts performances, sakura dancing and tea tasting. The festival attracts between 10.000-20.000 visitors annually. This year, the Hanami is an official part of the celebration of 150 years of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Japan.

16:00 – 17:30 Garden tour

Right after the Hanami festival, you are welcome to join the garden tour between 16:00 and 17:30. We will meet at the main entrance of the garden, Carl Skottsbergs Gata 22A, SE-413 19 Göteborg.  You also have the option to join a garden tour on Tuesday morning at 8am.
